December 8, 2016Consent to Treat
Consent to treat is permission to begin treating. All doctors – chiropractors or otherwise – should have you sign a document called an “informed consent form.” The form addresses possible concerns or material risks associated with a procedure. Occasionally, there is some level of risk or complication. We at Blue Heron will discuss what the treatment could involve, answer your questions and ask for your consent.
Patients often wonder why we ask so many questions. “Just pop my neck and all shall be well!” There are reasons we spend a lot of time talking about a litany of things; dizziness, nausea, headaches, blood pressure. Bear with me, it’s for your good. We need a full scope of your condition in order to prepare a comprehensive treatment plan.
All of the treatments we provide here at Blue Heron Chiropractic are proven and in keeping with chiropractic guidelines. Our standards are high and our practices celebrated.
We do have a Consent to Treat form for you to sign when you start treatment; it’s our way of saying “We are aware of our responsibilities, we are attending to them, and by the way, chiropractic is one of the safest care pathways for the treatment of pain.”
