Leander Flexion-Distraction
Blue Heron Clinic is proud to have a Leander 950 series Flexion-Distraction table to treat spinal/muscular cases that would benefit from gentle, reciprocating (repeatable/cycling) flexion and distraction (a type of traction). This table provides Traction/Distraction, combined with optional flection/extension or lateral flexion, and CPM (Continuous Passive Movement) Physical Therapy.
This is an advanced and highly specialized table; few clinics have them.
The table moves in a wave-type motion, which is adjustable in depth and frequency, as well as angle and direction. The patient holds the handlebar at the top, and can apply a gentle grip which give the patient the ability to control the comfort level of the treatment.
Mechanized axial spinal distraction therapy devices are proposed for use in the treatment of a number of conditions including, but not limited to, herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, sciatica, posterior facet syndrome, lumbosacral strain, radiculopathy, and a condition called internal disc disruption (IDD). The basic mechanism of action involves a controlled decompression of vertebral bodies along the spinal axis for the purpose of reducing pressure along the spinal column.
Patients have given this table good ratings.
